Hi Wayne, Thanks, I think I will really like having this one...I was reading about the oil, but was wondering how to apply,...so you just rub it on over the strings and all? I was worrying that it might not go so well if I had to remove the strings to oil the fretboard!
I wish I had known about it when I ordered, I think I will mention to them that they should tell people about the oil when they are getting an ebony fretboard...
Thanks everyone! I am very happy with it...I like the way it sounds, but since I have hardly got a tune out of it yet, it's all subjective at this point.! Yeah Barbara, I thought it looked pretty good on my chair too, but my little dog Pearl would really like to learn to play it too, so up it goes, out of reach of doggy toes!
Thanks! It is spalted ? Sycamore and the body is walnut, with ebony fretboard. I had a hard time choosing, since I had to listen to it over the phone, and the nice lady who played it for me actually played 4 different dulcimers, but over the phone as far as I could tell I like this one the best, which was nice since I liked the looks of it the best as well. I did want a scroll head, but I like the overall appearance, so I went for it! I don't know very much at all about how the different woods are on the soundboards, but liked the sound of this better than the all cherry that she played for me, this one just sounded sweeter. I am hoping the Sycamore is not too soft, but I guess I'll find out!..Thanks again for your nice comment, and I will try and post a video as soon as I can manage to play anything that slightly resembles a tune!
Thank you, I will order some tomorrow!

That's a nice looking dulcimer, and flat pegheads are simply much easier to use than scroll heads, if that is any consolation.

Congratulations! It's beautiful. What wood is the soundboard? I hope you'll post some audio or videos so we can hear it. :)
