Concert Ukulele

Adventures with 'other' instruments...

Well I made the plunge 3 months ago and bought a Kala Ziricoat Tenor and couldn't be happier. I actually have learned more about music since I've had this. Yes I still put many hours on my Folkcraft, but what fun the Uke is.

How do YOU memorize music?

General mountain dulcimer or music discussions

Repetition, For me anyway. Over and over again. Then on to line 2,  or Measure 3, either way.  But always loving it.

What do you aspire to with your music?

General mountain dulcimer or music discussions

I'm sitting here in my home office, music room man cave(when my wife of 11 years come 6/3/16)(I'm 62@ retired) lets me have it. I thought I was the only one that had issues playing in front of people.

I have had something in me, and have been trying to find it for 45 years, I found it. Dulcimer.  After a year and a half I can only play 5 or 6 songs with out tab. Gospel and Messing with Sugar Hill. Thanks John K.  But I know a little bit of a lot of songs. I try John Henry, thanks Dusty.

Most nights I will play to keep up what I know and try to add more songs.  At a certain time I find that songs I could'nt play 6 months ago are attainable now.

Guess I play because it feels good to me. I pay attention to you all every day.

pocket tunes and maintaining the backpack

When Sandy and I get together weekly, our first tune is Boonie Doon. She plays harmony and I melody.  Then Softly and Tenderly followed by 5 Tull Glazner Gospel songs we play w/o tab. We are working it.

I've never heard of a complaint about the TK Obrien before, David.

She just doesnt care for the sound. Not clear enough for her.

Was that you Dan in the CG?

21 3/4 VSL Dulcimer, strings?

Instruments- discuss specific features, luthiers, instrument problems & questions

My friend just got this Dulcimer. Need to replace the strings. They are very small, their bass string looks to be about 012,just a guess. What size recommended and what tuning. Hopefully compatible with me at Dad. Any other thoughts would be great. Like I said its small with 21 3/4" VSL.

Thanks

Dave
