2 1/4" for D Series.
Your dulcimer looks very nice but I thought Folk Roots instruments had a deeper box.
Hi Carole,
Yes its for sale. VSL is 27". Depth is 2 1/4". I am selling because I got the Ukulele bug big time and thats all I'm playing now.
Is the Folk Roots dulcimer still for sale? If so, how deep is the box? What is the scale length? Why are you selling?

Hi David and Robin-
Yesterday I applied a major update to our site platform. The update included many changes and improvements infeatures. Because of all the code changes, there are a few glitches that I need to slowly work my way through to fix up with code. The Activity Feed/Timeline links you are experiencing is one such glitch I will be working on over the next week or so. Rest assured that all such bugs will be fixed as I can devote my time to them. I am currently working on two other code issues that are first in line.
The good news is that this big platform update was successfully applied yesterday, and will now make FOTMD more stable and enjoyable going into the next couple of years. Thanks! -Strumelia

David, thanks for your comments on "John Henry." That's one of the tunes that I'm most proud of. Please note that I have a 1+ fret that I use a lot for that seventh chord that I use to mimic a train whistle. My only other advice is that my right hand is doing a lot of bum ditty, but instead of strumming across all the strings I pick them individually, with the bass doing the ditty and the middle and melody string alternating on the bums. Try it slowly at first and then when you get steady, speed up. If you can throw in the hammer-on on the middle string as part of that mix, you can get a real driving rhythm. Send me a personal message if you want and I can walk you through it. Good luck!
Lookin' forward to it!
There really isn't a sign-up for the classes, you just go to the classes of your choice. That way, you can be free to change your mind at any time during the festival.
Welcome to FOTMD David. It's good to have you aboard.

"The dulcimer sings a sweet song."
Howdy and welcome to FOTMD!
Hi David, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.

Welcome, David, to this little corner of dulcimer heaven. Small world; Sallisaw is where I was born & raised. Never would have thought there was any dulcimer interest there. Hope you enjoy it here.
