Hi there, this is Janina and I am a dulcimer player from far away.

I started playing guitar in the midst 30s and after a few years I stopped it again due to health reasons. But I was still fascinated by stringed instruments and especially the ones that are or were played by people out of pure fun or rural traditions, without any professional trainers and education, but with a lot of soul. - And all these lovely YouTube videos with the small jamming groups who just want to play together without any attitude but with a lot of respect to each other “made it even worse" ;-)

So, after I build a cigar-box-guitar from a kit my husband gave me, I was sure that dulcimer can't be infeasible. I asked McSpadden if they would be willing to send a kit to Germany and to my surprise they forwarded me to a partner here in Germany who imports their instruments. That said, I got my kit and build it in October/November 2019 and right for Christmas I was able to string it and fill up our house with christmas tunes. The best gift I could make myself. :-)

Since then, also after longer summer pauses (with gardening and camping), it’s always a wonderful experience to return.

For a long time I followed a group on FB. But their advertisement strategy drives me more and more crazy.

So, I am here. Let’s see how it goes on.

Have a wonderful May 1st (a public holiday in Germany).

Hi Richard, will do will do. :-))) When ever I feel comfortable to contribute I will do.

Welcome to FOTMD Chcknj. It is good to have you join us. There is a chat room on the right side of the screen for live chats. It isn't used much as you have to catch people when they are online. Most of our conversations take place in the various discussion threads. I look forward to your participation here.

Hi Ken, I will see what I can do and can contribute. I assume that first of all I have to learn who is in here and how you all belong together. :-)
