R.S. Williams banjo made prior to 1879. I bought it at a lawn sale about 2018 for $20.00.
It was restored by Teilhard Frost in November of 2021 and now has nylon strings and a goatskin head.
Robert, I was surprised that it's an 11" head. The one I built (and have revised many times since 1977) has an 11" head. My old S.S. Stewart tenor banjo has a 10 7/8" head. Next is my R.S. Williams (built in Toronto) with an 11"head. On the right is an old no-name catalog banjo with an almost 11" head (which was decorated at a festival by a henna artist).
Nice to see these sweet old banjers.
Very nice. I'm sure you will enjoy playing it.

Sweet!
Nice, from where the bridge sits it looks like a 10" head? . Goatskin and nylon strings makes a great combination... Robert
The restoration looks great! I love the sound of old banjos with nylon strings.
This is the banjo after Teilhard worked his magic.
