Lorraine if you are playing in DADD try tuning to CGCC. This loosens the strings makin it much easier on the fingers. As long as you aren't trying to play with others in DADD, you can play all the same music using all same fingerings. This changes your tuning to C , easier to play, easier to sing with and a nice mellow tone . I always play in C except when teaching. If you tune to DAAA toy can Tune to CGGG. All my students play in C so they can practice longer:-).
