It does sometimes feel like horror to be very vulnerable. I've only been playing dulcimer since August after 3 surgeries on my thumbs and fingers, and the inability to play my precious guitar anymore. And thus I feel vulnerable to be fairly accomplished on one instrument and then a complete beginner on another though similar one. But, I want you to somehow know with what great acceptance I and others feel for you and your work. I am no where near the artist that you are. Very few of us on this site are. You are the bomb, Richard. Sit down and play and show it to us.
Thanks --- it's nice when people discover my videos and find something of value in them. Sometimes I feel like they are little messages for children to find, once they are old enough to look ...

Great piece. I looked up Petra Kelly; did some reading. Thanks for that, too."There is not a little bit of cancer or a little bit of malnutrition or a little bit of death or a little bit of social injustice or a little bit of torture. It does not help us in any way if we begin accepting lower and safer levels of, for example, radioactivity or lower and safer levels of ... lead or dioxin. We must speak out clearly, loudly and courageously, if we know that there are no safe levels." Petra Kelly.

Thank you, Richard. It's always a bit of a shock to me when you write that you don't play well. I hope your own play nourishes your soul some way; that's the sort of nourishment playing dulcimer has given me.

You all are very kind. It sounds fine to me in my head; the recording doesn't. Only because this community is so generous and welcoming can I share it. It's pretty intimate stuff, after all.I'd also like people to remember Petra Kelly, whose activism changed the course of my life and that of so many others. The images aren't mine, I just swiped them from cyberspace.I posted this before on Facebook and ED last week. A day went by and no one commented, which I'd interpreted to mean "no offence, but this is painfully bad". Then a friend wrote me to say it had moved her to tears, and that she would not forgive me if I did not repost it and leave it up for at least a little while. Undeserved praise to be sure, but if my poetry speaks to just a few people (even if the rest can't stand it), it is worth the embarrassment & vulnerability of posting a less-than-perfect creation.

"I can't sing, I can't play well and I have no recording equipment... Here it is anyway."Only one of these things is true.
You say you can't sing, but it is much better Bob Dylan does. (If gravel could sing it would sound like Dylan)
You say you don't play well, but I believe it is well enough.
And the text, it is good, very good.
So there is nothing wrong here
Probably this videao is banned in Europe, because I can't see anything. Pushing Play goes directly to the end...
Despite what you claim, I find this very enjoyable to listen to and watch. Your voice lends itself well to the words....
