Wow that's a lovely story!...about both your mother's quilt and your father's devotion to your playing. I remember seeing pix of him in the pix of dulcimer gatherings from a few years ago. That's so nice you named the dulcimer with his nickname. I'm so glad I asked!

Well that's simple to answer kinda... I bought the top one used from a fellow EDer.. and really like the sound and playability ... then last Nov. my Dad passed away.. he was my biggest fan of my playing traveled every where with me to socials, gatherings, festivals, etc... I wanted something to remember him in my playing.. so I ordered the 2nd one, made as I wanted... it is named Westy.. because that was my Dad's nickname at work for years... so he kinda is with me in all my playing now as well... they do have a different sound...most the songs I have posted here were recorded on "Westy"... I will try to record one on "Rusty"... the quilt was one made my mother years ago for me...actually it's the one I sleep under every night.. Thanks for asking.... Alex the maker of the HX's is a super guy to work with.. I have thinking .. about ordering one of his teardrops.. but haven't figured out how to sneak it in the house..LOL

Rod tell us why you got these two slightly different ones. Do they each have a different playing purpose? Is the difference only in the choices of wood types?And...who made that lovely quilt? ;)
