FOTMD is such a great resource for beginners like me. With Bobby's 'When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder', Strumelia's 'Aunt Rhody', Dana's 'Sugar Hill, Robin Thompson's 'Sourwood Mountain and your 'Shady Grove', I have a goodly number of great old tune to try and learn.
Thanks, Sam. The song and the tuning do seem to be an ideal fit! I started fiddling around with tunings because my dulcimer does strange things with a capo and I hated the sound. Besides that, I found I had to re-tune after removing a capo and that's a nuisance!
I really like your rendition of Shady Grove. I had already found the DACC tuning from Strumelia in her blog. The two (Shady Grove and DACC) seem made for each other. Thanks for a very entertaining video.
