This is a amalgamation of several versions that I learned years ago. Just played from memory; I didn't look back at my old tab. Played in the key of Am. The dulcimer is tuned C G c. (Bm chord forms for D A d tuning).
Wow, now that you mention it, Tom, I do see a couple of cuts. But I had to watch a few times very attentively to see them. And I notice as well how the dulcimer is slipping around your lap. Nice playing despite the obstacles!
It will be a while, I think, before I get a version out. I'm still at the stage of trying to get the melody ingrained in my head. Then I'll start working on some chords after that. I was listening to an a cappela version by the Wailin' Jennys (check it out: )and decided it might make a nice slow, fingerstyle tune on the dulcimer. LIttle did I know that you had already proved it does!
Thanks! I hadn't listened to this in ages. I remember chasing the dulcimer around on my lap due to those slick gym clothes, and playing six or seven verses, then splicing parts of three together to get the two that were passable. You can see a couple of jump cuts if you look. Looking forward to hearing your version.
Thanks Tom, that brought back a few memories! At one longstanding pub session that I used to attend ,a good friend with a fine voice often finished the evening with this tune. He died of cancer a couple of years back.

Nice playing, Tom. I'm just beginning the process ofarranging a version of this tune and am finding lots of inspiration in your version here.
Beautiful play of a beautiful tune, Tom. I like the setting you used, too.
