I grew up not far from the Hudson River on the western side of the Palisades in north eastern NJ. We spent many delightful days traveling up the western side of the river up to Kingston and back.

I, too, have ancestors that came over from the Palitinate. Perhaps it is that and the fact that I live in central Pennsylvania that peaked my interest in the the Pennsylvania German zitter, a relative of the German hummel. I have two instruments for the last quarter of 19th century that I've restored plus I have examined instruments in the Mercer Museum, Landis Valley Farm and Museum, and the Smithsonian Institution.
