Scarborough Fair in 4 keys

musician/member name:
Duration: 00:03:01
description:
I tried this song in four keys just to see which one I liked the best. Got a little carried away with the color. Played a somewhat navel-gazing pace. DAd tuned and 100% tab-free. I'll work on a better arrangement, and try it in DAc and DAg as well. Which key do you prefer?

Thanks, Marsha!

I use Magix Movie Edit Pro 15. I got it in 2009, and the company had version 16 out by then. Buying one version earlier saved big $, and I didn't need the HD capability from the later version anyway.

I chose this software because it has a built-in sound studio. I find I enjoy the art of the sound editing and video design almost as much playing the music. I usually at least use some subtle pans or zooms to add some visual interest to the static camera shot.

Here is a post on the evolution of my camera and sound setup, if you are interested.

Hi Tom,

As a beginner dulcimer player, I am in awe of the way you pick this lovely song rather than the strum that I do. I want to learn how to do that!

As a graphic artist and web developer, I LOVE what you did to the video color. It really set apart the different versions you were presenting. What editing software do you use?

JohnHAc for me Tom! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to hear the differing 'sounds' and telling us what they are, great for all, especially those just starting their dulcimer journey

Here's another D minor vote...just a darker texture and really warm sounding. I worked on this in DAC tuning last week and really liked the sound as well. I love listening to examples done in different keys/styles/tunings! It helps listeners to compare/contrast the different sounds and find what works best for them. Thanks Tom! You are once again helpful as always!
