I had to delete this from youtube and start all over to get the settings, thumbnail, etc. to work correctly. Hopefully, it will be OK this time. I figured this out by ear, and may not have the tune exactly right. Sorry about the glare; I promise to wear a hat next time. I'm in D A d tuning, key of E minor.
Thanks, Lisa. You are going back a ways to listen to this one. I haven't heard or played it myself in years. Time to put it back in the rotation.
What a lovely rendition Tom, on a lovely dulcimer.
Oh, and I still think I needed a hat!
Thanks to all of you for the kind words. As to the dulcimer, it was a gift from my wife, and made by my friend Ed Weiss, of Ft. Wright, KY. He worked backwards, finding some small cases and custom making instruments to fit. He's got a closet full of one-of-a-kinds, including more of these small ones, if someone is interested.Ed used natural knotholes in the both the maple top and walnut sides as soundholes. There is also a soundhole under the raised bridge. He (and I) wanted full sound out of a smaller body, and a travel instrument. I find my full size model a pain to lug around airports. This one fits snugly in the case, and I keep bubble wrap around it too. The case is getting beat up from daily hard use, but not the instrument. It's easy to carry, fits in my cockpit closet, sounds and plays great tuned anywhere from B flat up to E, and is a work of art besides.
Tom,Well-played. I enjoyed the music, the setting. . .and all worked well without your wearing a hat.;)
Beautiful rendition, Tom. A lovely melody.Bill
