I found a VERY early version of WHEN I WAS A YOUNG GIRL on an old computer...it has the lyrics and chords...I verified it and added the fingerings for the chords for each line of lyrics that best fits the melody. I'll one day expand upon this with a strum technique video for this song but thought you could use this if you wanted to work on it in the mean time. Chords are very simple...it's all in the strum.
I will now ATTEMPT to attach the PDF of the lyric/chord sheet. Fingers crossed
Mike--I'm not sure how to ensure you get a reply to the guestbook entry. I hope you get this. Thanks so much for listening to songs on my YouTube channel...I always say everything I've done is there...good and bad, and inexperienced and I hope some development shows. One Morning in May..I haven't revisited that song in ages, thanks for mentioning it, I'm going to brush up on it again as I start considering performing. I first heard it as "When I Was a Young Girl" by Feist. You'll find that...primarily percussion--enthralling version. Once I focused on learning that song I found other versions to influence me...the same song sung by Barbara Dane(incredibly haunting) and then under the title "One Morning in May" a version by the Lonesome Sistershas a real mountain sound. It's confusing with the 2 titles, plus there is another traditional song called "One Morning in May". I have all these on my ipod. I used to find multiple versions to study on iTunes but I now use Spotify or YouTube. I can't find the original chord and lyric sheet I made for this...so I am definitely going to re-do it. Seems to me it was very similar to Wayfaring Stranger (Bm, G, Em D...) It's the strum that I worked out that I am most proud of. I think I was influenced by Feist's percussive version. I plan to make a new YouTube Channel to deconstruct some of the songs to demonstrate strums, picking patterns etc. of songs I've done. I'll be sure to let you know. I'll document the song again in the very near future (but it won't be tab, lust lyrics and chords)...I'll get that to you as well. Right now I'm totally immersed in working out La Vie En Rose which I can't post here (copyright) but it will be on my YouTube Channel. I love discussing my influences in learning a song..artists that I've found, so thanks for asking!
Hi Mike, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.

I don't recall if I posted any pictures of the Coke box or not...I'll have to see.
Howdy and welcome to the FOTMD crew! My wife and I played in the Sequoyah Caverns of your fair state a couple of days ago.
Welcome, Mike, to this little corner of dulcimer heaven. Hope you enjoy it here.
