Hi Patty! Not a dumb question at all! Notice on the other side of the PVC there's a plastic container with a yellow cap? That's the steamer. You plug that in and the heating element is in the top of that steamer to heat the water inside. Then as you can see it goes through the black hose to the end of the PVC on the right of the picture. That fills the pipe with steam and heats the wood inside. Notice the valve on the other end to the left of the picture? That lets out the excess steam. I also drilled a small hole on the bottom so the condensation that builds up inside pours out into that black bucket. I put a small board under the front to give it a little slant so the condensation would run down to the hole. I saw this done on Youtube and gave it a try and it worked great!

Chuck, I assume that is pvc? What do you have inside it to heat it? Sorry for the dumb questions
