Working with a metronome's something I find daunting, though I think it's a good thing to do every now and then, out of the comfort zone.. This is a while back so I guess it should prompt me to do it again..
That's bold and it sounds great.I have found that because I no longer play in bands or for dancers a metronome is a great help,technique-wise,practice and performance-wise,keeps me in the loop. When I do play without one after practising a melody with...I have a sense of where I speed up and slow down and can adjust through my playing. For me,it makes difficult passages much easier, knowing where my pick and fingers should be for a certain note-and where I go in following after!

Thanks Robin.. Just a happy accident...
The timbre of the metronome makes it sound like some sort of percussive instrument.
