Ban-Jammers can definitely have some volume to them.  They come with foam (from the drum practice pad) that can be adjusted to make them louder or quieter.  I’ve seen some folks use no muffling at all and let them ring while some have stuffed T-shirts or socks in them to make them softer.  A really fun instrument😊
