Well actually, if you will, the "funny" thing is I work for a substance abuse/mental health agency, I am a Disaster Response Behavioral Crisis counselor, I went through my own very dark time following the devastating Colorado floods of 2013. After dealing with so many people in deep crisis, I my self became suicidal. I got back into playing dulcimer which I hadn't done in over a decade.
It kept me sane, and I enjoy more than anything getting the older ones that need TLC and some restoration, I have even picked up a solid wood kit from 1973 that I am going to start working on soon. I seriously believe getting back into it saved my sorry butt. No joke.
The only problem I developed from there is a serious case of DAD, Dulcimer Acquisition disease, and I now sit at 30, the kit will make 31.
While still believe Psychotherapy has it's place, it's highly over rated and folks need something more positive to focus those energies from underlying problems into something positive.
Did you have any experiences with the low efficiancy of psychotherapy? Did you experience playing or restoring an old instrument would give you much more progress in life ? Well then welcome to our club
I LOVE the t-shirt!!!
I have said many times, when I am having a bad day - my dulcimer will make everything better!
