Hi All,
I recently picked up a 5 string Robert Mize dulcimer with a very deep 2" body. It is strung with 2 base ( wound) strings and 3 (size 10 strings) and the spacing is equdistant except for a double melody. I've never seen a dulcimer like this and want to replace the strings but don't know how to tune it or if the extra wound string is a mistake. It is marked on the inside 1977....#J11. Does J stand gif just in this case?.....Has anyone seen one like this or have ideas?
Thanks...
Hi Lynn- please see my note in your INBOX...thanks!
Lynn, your psalteries are so lovely.
Hey Lynn, this is a good way to send a message to someone who isn't following you yet.
Thanks Lynn! Here In El Paso we have a 30% chance of rain on Wednesday , my fingers are crossed.
Lynn, sorry I don't have an iPad, I saw that Lisa tried to help you.
Hope things get straighted out. I am not tech savy either, I could only give you the steps of what I had just done to fix my photos.
Lynn, I explained the photo flip to you under your Thomas picture. Great Job, happy that you did it.
If you want to check out my pictures of my Thomas replica by Kevin...it is sweet sounding and mean tone.
Lynn--
I don't know why either...I load the video straight from my computer rather than a link to another site...maybe that's the difference?? But I always post the videos on my YouTube Channel plus videos that are more current songs (not in the public domain) which I can only post in the Rock & Roll Group on "Friends" or on YouTube. Here is the location for the video on YouTube. I'd be surprised if you couldn't view it there.
My Channel is in the name Janene M .
Thanks for your interest in giving it a listen.
Yes Lynn I would say the action on my Keith Young dulcimer is low.
Hi Lynn ... I'm afraid I've never tabbed out the song. It's pretty easy to figure out though because the video focuses right on my fingers. The harmonic bar I use in the second part of the song is over fret 4.
Yayyyy Lynn!!! Looking forward to seeing pics tomorrow
Now that you are rolling.....we will work on videos later!
Lynn, if you go to your page, then click on Members Photos, there should be an "ADD" button on the upper right hand part of your page.Click on that, and then it will allow you to browse for the photo on your computer. Please let me know if this helps, or if you are still having trouble. I would love to see your Homer Ledford! Please email a picture if you feel like it!Thanks! Cindy
Lynn, I was just wondering when we might get to see that beautiful Homer Ledford treasure of yours :-) Can't wait to hear it too!
Lynn, thank you for the comments on my Clemmer banjammer!I have said before and honestly believe that some of the most wonderful people are those involved in music! In this case it was those who were simply following and enjoying the music, but a part of it nonetheless! There are many wonderful people here too, and I am so glad to be a part of this great group of people....and glad we are friends!
Hi Lynn,
Gosh thank you so much for your kind words!!! I am very humbled!
Soooooo.......you got a 40 year old Homer Ledford dulcimer????? How wonderful is that???? I can't wait to hear it You have to be soooo excited!!!! I am excited for you!!!
I love my banjammer from Mike Clemmer! He and his wife are such wonderful people, and he is such a talented luthier. In my photos is a picture of the banjammer, and under it is the story of how it came to be. The wood came from some wonderful people I met thru music - who have become some of my closest friends! I am working on some finger picking on it and just love it.
I also have a wormy chestnut from Mike - it isbeautiful instrumentalso.
I am having a resurgence of DAD .... hahaha....
I really don't need any more instruments, but I haven't had a new one for some time.
Congratulations on your new dulcimer!!!
Keep strumming and smiling
Cindy
Hi Lynn!
Thank you for the friend request
I am happy to be your friend!
It sounds like we have the "string thing" in common, as I also played guitar since I was a teenager....although I don't play it much any more....the dulcimers have taken over my life! I still have the guitar that my parents gave me for my 14th birthday - which is the one I play with the dulcimers.
I look forward to getting to know you!
Keep strumming and smiling!
Cindy
