Patty - thankyou. The broom dance is an old tradition in East Anglia in the east of England and in Herefordshire in the west midlands. I have been told the tradition by boom dancers who said that it was donein celebration after the work was finished sweeping out the barn. It is also customary on Plough Monday, when farmwork began again after the Twelve Days of Christmas break. It is performed now - here is an example

Nice! I would have loved to have seen a video of the broom dance. Is there a story or tradition behind this dance? I'm curious.
