Thanks Helen. Glad you liked it! I love the tone of mahogany. I chose this model specifically for that tone...but they also offer one with spruce top I believe. I have a rather severe hearing deficit and really never appreciated the tone of MD's and such as they are so quiet. When wearing quality headphones and played into a good microphone and with sometimes a wee bit of reverb, they all spring to life with their own unique and enchanting voices. I'm a home recording artist and even tho I appreciate watching all the videos on this site, it's also hard for me not to be thinking "man...this person plays so well...a shame they aren't being recorded properly!" I have yet to hear a soundtrack from a video camera that does a good player justice.
I know this is an old post, but I love the tune. I just purchased a spruce top Merlin and love it. I also have a traditional mountain dulcimer.
Nicely done, Pine.

Thanks again for stoppin' by.
What a joyful tune....and played so well.

Pine, that was wonderful! I saw a Merlin at my local Guitar Center and I was intrigued. Do you play it on your lap or like a guitar?
Been off the site for quite awhile. Just picked up a new Seagull "Merlin" as a present to myself. That's what ya do in retirement, eh?
"Merlin's Joy" is the first recording I've done with it in my studio. Added a second lead/melody track to sweeten it up.
I love this little thing. Addicting and just plain fun. Cool tone, good sustain, built well, and reasonably priced.
