"fiddle tunes are the thread of dulcimer history"
I like that, Robin. And, agree wholeheartedly.

I never knew Strumelia to get physical like that.Robin Thompson said:PS- Strumelia, your percussive slaps inspired my fat felt pick pounding.
And where else but on FOTMD would one ever read a sentence like that, I ask you?
Yes, Strumelia is a sweetheart! Thanks, Strums for all you do for us.Happy Anniversary.Michael Vickey www.goodfornuthin.com. . . I assume we have simply taken on the personality of our beloved founder, Strumelia, who continues to nurture us with her knowledge and love of traditional music and those who like playing it.
NOOOoooooo! NOT Wabash Cannonball! Beyuck gack cough, shudders.Better Wreck of the Old 97. Or . . . in this case The Wreck of Old 799 .MichaelThat will be the hook at the end of the song. Sort of like how sale prices always sound better at $7.99 instead of $8.00. Now I have a direction to go with it, thanks. Maybe set it to the tune of "Wabash Cannonball".
Todd W,Welcome. You are member number 799.Party time just around the corner.Michaelmy band: www.goodfornuthin.comWhat's the count at? I just joined.
That's odd. Today the number is 744. Where did 40 members go?MichaelIt is conceivable that FOTMD will have to squeeze in an 800 Member party before grocery shopping for the big 4th of July cookout. I just peeked, and the number this AM was 784.
Mary,You are the ONLY other person who has played my D Dorogi.I just found a "T" model Dorogi and it will be waiting for me when I return home.Which of your dulcimers would you keep if you had only one? My guess is a K Simerman.Michael Vickey www.goodfornuthin.comMichael,
This is a very awesome dulcimer--I've heard it and played it. Since you are only keeping one of your Dorogis--maybe I could have your second best? :)
love,
Mary Z
ps. See you on Saturday. :)
I have several Dorogi dulcimers - all exhibit fine craftsmanship and all are built to Mr Dorogi's exacting standards.Michael Vickey www.goodfornuthin.com
Oooohh! Red Raspberries - my favorite all-time food. You can have my portion of the Evil Shrimp bits and Evil encased-olive Jello Salad, but save me a double portion of that raspberry dessert.C'mon 600.MichaelDeath by Raspberry. I've found out that too much chocolate can trigger a migraine, so I modified my Death by Chocolate. A foundation of raspberry meringue, topped with fresh raspberry sorbet, mounded with raspberry whipped cream and a drizzle of raspberry syrup and a handful of fresh berries tossed on. Sprig of mint for a bit of color.
Season's Greetings and Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas and Great New Year to our friends here at FOTMD from a windy and snowy northwest Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately Deborah is 500 miles away from my place in Montreal. The next time we get together, I'll make a recording of her playing. I wish I'd done so already!MichaelThanks for the info Michael - now can you obtain a recording of her playing it???!!!???
Lisa,Deborah measured the VSL - 27 inches.MichaelWow, what an instrument! And 8 strings, too.
Do you know what its scale length is?
My photos do not do it justice. It was fun to play and has an incredible rich sound.Michael Vickey www.goodfornuthin.com
