I am at such a loss for words... So much love and support has been shared through so many years from Tom and Missy... This is such sad news, and I am so sorry. His memory will be eternal.
Thank you, Joseph! Great idea... Why didn't I think of that? LOL
I used to have a CD with Margaret Wright singing "A Light at the River" and cannot get her lovely voice out of my head with this tune. It's haunting me! 😅 I am dying to play it but don't see it in her songbooks. Anyone familiar with it? TIA!
Even though I'm quiet I still love getting the e-mails updating this thread! I am a month-and-a-half into eating like a bear (keto, IF 23:1), and I cannot believe the difference already. I couldn't believe the difference in two weeks~though I do still have a very long way to go. I know that I will never view the comment, "That's just water weight," over rapid weight loss the same way again. That was water that meant inflammation, swelling, limited mobility, and needed to come off!
I do have a very long way to go, but I chose this method because of the possible autophagy helping with loose skin. I'm going to have loose skin with all I need to lose, but anything to help, please! LOL! In all honesty, this has been one of the easiest eating plans I've ever tried, and I am so thankful.
@john-c-knopf, I am a Veggie Tale fan, and there is guitar TAB for The Cheeseburger Song!!! I will learn it. My very favorite VT is Madam Blueberry....
Y'all are WONDERFUL!!!! Thank you for being FUN and CREATIVE and such a JOY!!! I have most recently added "Real Love Baby" by Father John Misty and "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson.
@dusty-turtle, YES about Erin Mae!!! I had to relearn quite a few bad, self-learned techniques~LOL. I have moved into playing a lot of chords via ultimate guitar's site and am enjoying a whole new world.
I have loved looking up all of these tunes and seeing what I might be able to play~thank y'all for that! I have added Tracy Chapman's "Baby Can I Hold You", "Come to Me" by the Goo Goo Dolls, and I am checking out other songs of interest as well. OH I am having so much FUN with my dulcimer~all thanks to a class I recently took from Erin Mae Lewis!!! WOW I cannot believe the difference it made for me.
Thank you all~these are GREAT! Keep 'em comin'! I would love a beautiful love song to play, as I think about my husband... Not finding it though. Just started learning "Eight Days a Week", but it doesn't quite embody all that I want~LOL!
...to play on your dulcimer! The sappier, more poetic the better. TIA!
Thank y'all so very much! I'm not fantastic, but I always love being asked to play.
@strumelia THANK YOU! The song is Christ Child Lullaby, and I found dulcimer TAB online arranged by S. Stevens that matched their music (save for 6/4 versus 3/4 time). I altered it quite a bit and made it easy peasy! Great mic job on my Wren by my Preston, who was running sound. SO FUN, though there is that deer in headlights moment by moi... LOL!
WOW!!! Would love to learn such cool stuff. Life keeps happening~which is GOOD~but I am not really progressing. Love this so much!
Hazel and I love to play and sing this... We should record for fun, maybe? Not because we're good, just because it's a favorite!
THANK YOU! I will listen. I love this, too!
Got to play my little Wren by Featherdulcimer in church today, which is always such and honor and joy~even though I mess up a lot! LOL. Today it did NOT go down as planned and practiced, two verses, accordion thing, two verses, dulcimer, a verse, end. Obviously I don't roll well with sudden changes~HA HA! Still such fun! It starts about 18:27 here: https://livestream.com/accounts/6164779/events/8950700/videos/200482706
BTW in another thread a good while ago I did figure out that I was going out of tune while playing by somehow pulling a melody string out of tune while noting. Notering? LOL. ???
Here is a very short clip of Hazel and I doing Werner Van Rillaer 's "The Artists". It's the only vid I've been successful loading here so far, maybe because it's so short? I fell head-over-heels for this song, and Werner was kind enough to message me a vid of his fingers playing and a pic of his handwritten lyrics. I tune by ear and really struggle to get into DAG, and there is a bit of buzz, but it's so worth the try. This is my Teagan, a Wren by Feather Dulcimer, as well as my favorite!
I know the day is over, but I am still so enjoying reading what y'all did and seeing your pics and vids!!!!! Keep 'em coming!
[edit by Strumelia: sorry Sandi but videos will not play as attachments, so I had to delete it. You'd need to post a link to the video somewhere online instead, and it can then play from here in a post. Perhaps Hazel can help you with this?- I know she's smart about youtube video stuff... lol]
The Five Constipated Men of the Bible from our very own Ken H.! (Y'all have mentioned lots of faves I wanna learn now though...)
I'm pretty sure this day is my Christmas, and it did NOT disappoint again this year! I put out there that our porch was open from 10AM-10PM, and this is what happened: My husband kicked us off in the morning with a DJ set and some family line dancing. In the afternoon a concertina showed up, followed by a singer/keyboardist. Hazel and I also played violin/dulcimer. An old neighbor showed up who always makes our toy Schoenhard piano sing. Then a guitar/banjo player and his wife stopped by, followed by a couple who sang and played some spoons. A couple more spectator came and listened for an hour, and then another singer. At one point we had to put a bench by the van! Lastly a friend and her daughter who plays flute and uke~she and Hazel played and sang us into the darkness. OH SO GOOD!!!!!
We had sweet tea and lemonade, salsa pinwheels, homemade chocolate chip cookies and brownies from my kids, watermelon, and cheese puffs. OH so many pics to choose from! LOL There are more pics and vids on my fb album.
TODAY IS THE DAY!!!!! We are up making snacks and drinks for our table... And still kinda cleaning up... And we are very excited!
@jill-geary do it! I have a teeny front porch and a very teeny, row house front yard. I'm going to line it and my walk with chairs! ~anything can happen~
@ken-hulme that sounds FANTASTIC!!!!
Still looking forward to it here! really want to play Werner Van Rillaer's "The Artist", but I cannot, cannot figure out his DAG tuning. It's the G melody string that doesn't sound right? His sounds lower? I always tune by ear from online.... LOL
WHAT??!!! I won 2nd place! I'm so stunned! THANK YOU! CONGRATS to everybody!
ETA I LOVE MY PRIZE!!!!! Dusty Turtle, I am so excited about your contribution!!!!
If you want info on homeopathic treatments for tick bites, let me know!
@salt-springs , Had to look that up, had to add it to my favorites... So sad to learn he just passed away last month.
Thank you, @Robin-Thompson! That feeling is mutual, and I am grateful for you!
@Strumelia, OH friend! HA HA HA! Eric had been copying the original Zumba VHS to DVD for me when he came in and blurted, "WHAT is this you brought into my house?!!" and accused me of having porn. I had never done the advanced ones, and apparently Beto is dancing behind two of the girls with his "eyes on their onions" as Eric says, licks on hand and slaps a bottom, licks the other hand and slaps the other in the same way. He was horrified! LOL... But it gets even better: Then there was a whole sting operation around a Zumba place in Florida that was actually a prostitution ring. So when our community center started offering Zumba to the little, old ladies in the neighborhood, I said I was going. His immediate response was, "Oh HELL to the naw!" HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
You really have to hear him tell it~everyone splits a gut. SO FUNNY! And the Zumba class, of course, was great.
I always love all of your sharings here! Hope you are doing well with your journey and hospital issues, Andreas. Hang in there Salt Springs! Strumelia, I so love Zumba, but I've not done it in a few years. Have a funny story as to why my husband didn't want me to ever start... Robin, I am encouraged by your cleaning out! I am in the same boat, and I guess I have been for a long while. I never seem to finish, and it all seems to pile up again.
I'm not doing so great in the health department. I know that if I'm not loyal to just 15 minutes, 3X a week I struggle with swelling and knee pain. So WHY am I not doing just that??!!! UGH. I know I've been battle a bit of depression over many different issues and wish I weren't built like tissue paper. We just got back from an hour at the pool though, and that felt great. Weird that I could feel the swelling in one ankle more in the water....
I have also heard of black cherry for gout.
Well, y'all are still killin' it! YER AWESOME! I missed last Friday due to a BIG splinter, did a seated workout on Monday that was harder than the standing ones~HA!, and I have a plan to get another HASfit in tonight and Saturday. Still slowly progressing, knees doing well, low back pain is a bother at times.
Just came by to drool over it again. ~sigh~ Methinks I'm jealous!
This has been a busy thread, and I love it! I so agree that it is INSPIRING! Thank you all for sharing so much of yourselves.
Today equals a month of working out with HASfit~just 15 mins., 3X a week, senior vids. Yesterday the kids and I went to the park and walked some wooded trails. My knees and balance would not have been able to handle the unevenness of the terrain just a few weeks ago, but I was able to hop over creeks even! So big improvement over such a short time. (I tell myself if I can't get 15 mins. in, I'm a scrub! HA HA HA!) I am looking forward to increasing when I'm ready.
@slate-creek-dulcimers, I miss your fat bike updates!
Thank you for keeping up the conversation, Andreas!!! I love reading your updates and am inspired by them.
Salt Springs, you are the perfect encouragement! Thank you! I keep thinking about where I'd be now had I not quit so many times. I'm not seeing that as a downer, but as a DON'T DO IT AGAIN! That every little bit adds up, so if nothing else keep at least doing the little bit!
@steven-berger, we are kindred spirits. I love that song so much! You'll hafta weigh in also on "A Man's A Man For A' That"....
I am loving this discussion! Years ago I used to ride 11.5 miles each way to work. I loved it, because I beat the bus by 4 mins and didn't have to walk 30 mins at either end depending on the day and time. That ride would kill me now, but I long to get back on my bike! Y'all are encouraging me. I will get there again, or I'll create a new love. I really want a longboard skateboard to ride the neighborhood on... Can you imagine? OH keep talkin'!
BTW Friday = 3 weeks into my HASfit workouts. I am amazed at the difference in my knees and how stairs don't hurt anymore!!!!!
@Robin-Thompson, I can't wait to hear about your mini concert!
Today Hazel and I played in church. I have practiced and practiced and practiced, and I don't know what happened, but most of the song ended up being Hazel's violin with my singing. LOL! AH well. I still enjoyed it very much!
