Gary, I never play without a possum board. The difference in brightness and clarity of the sound is significant over resting the dulcimer on you legs. I need that extra "boost" to match my singing.
Possum boards, galax backs, and anything else that allows the resonating back of the dulcimer to vibrate make a significant difference in sound. Nice demonstration!
