The Onion Flute is the ancestor of the kazoo. In former times this kind of instruments was also called "eunuch flute", later "Mirliton" and nowadays "kazoo"...
That's really nice Peter. I've never heard of the Onion Flute before until you posted information about it. I'm wondering if you could rig a holder for it like a harmonica holder so that you could use both hands to play your dulcimer. I came across this when I did a search,http://www.instructables.com/id/Clothes-Hanger-Harmonica-Holder/ . I'm not sure how comfortable a coat hanger would be on the back of the neck but I suppose padding could be added. Just some thoughts I had. I love your kazoos too. Thanks for posting
@Marc - Ah, that's interesting. I'm sorry that French was not among the languages I learnt in school (even though thanks to Latin I could intuitionally guess most of the content). I see now that the word "cuir" is leather - so I fancy something like very thin parchment? Thanks for pointing that out.
The maker of my onion flute actually didn't use "leather" or parchment, but actually "Bamboo skin".
Thanks Mary!
Thank you for listening and commenting, Rob, Frank, Patty and Steven!
Unusual, but very nice! Thanks!

Very nice. Thank you for the demonstration, Peter.
That was really neat, Peter!
Thank you, Marc, Benjamin, John!
