And don't that shaving off a sharp plane come with a 'good to hear' zing, beside the fact that planing takes out the scratches, whereas by its very nature sanding puts 'em in ???
Thanks, folks. I do use power tools for some things but when I have the time I love hand planing. When one learns to sharpen and use hand tools getting the job done doesn't take as long as people imagine.
Looks like work to me Doug. I just too my wood to the Amish woodworking shop and had them sand it down for me. I had 15 boards 3/16 to 1/8 inch thick sand down to 1/10 inch for five bucks. And I had great time talking to Amish woodworkers while someone else did my work for me. Your work does look good.
