I am so thankful that you have power, AC and water. What  a blessing that is.

Our little NY village was hit hard by a violent storm late thursday night. It knocked down many trees and power lines, torrential rain and high winds... but only last an hour.
Our mayor declared a state of emergency, with no travel allowed the next day. Now 2 days later, I hear there are still parts of the village with no power and no water (!).  Our little cluster up on the hill here was so lucky. We never lost power for some reason so we still have AC all through this awful heat wave.  We're very grateful!  pray

Very hot in NC as stated below...we are blessed with AC. But hearing reports of many in the central part of NC without power and may be so for days.

Nate:...Cooling towels, shade hats, plus light colored, breathable, and wicking clothes...

Good pointers Nate. Umbrellas are good too, as are the new rechargeable neck fans!

Sometimes when i see pix of people out in the heat wave with no hat, shirt, or even sunglasses... I wonder how they never managed to learn common sense for heat survival.

My cats are staying nice and cool thanks to the ac units, while I'm stuck outside working and relying on good old latent heat of vaporization to cool myself. But thats what humans are meant to do...sweat and stay moving. Cooling towels, shade hats, plus light colored, breathable, and wicking clothes have helped through the 100+ degree days.

My plants on the other hand are getting absolutely fried :(

I am so thankful for air conditioning. Here in NC they have predicted highs 5 days in a row above 100. Heat index in a nearby town today was 113. Ours is still 105 at 652 pm. I worked in the yard a couple of hours the early part of the day. Other than a trip out to the grocery store I have stayed inside. I will stay indoors tomorrow except for an hour or so working on so hobby project on the breezeway in the morning. Even on days when the air is dead still there is a breeze through the breezeway. So that is a blessing all the way around. Many localities are modifying celebration plans for the 4th to lessen the time people spend outdoors in the heat.

Everyone stay cool, hydrated and safe for the holiday.

We don't have air conditioning in our house.  We have a dehumidifier in the basement and run fans in the downstairs.  A couple windows are open upstairs.  Yes, it is hot.  To some extent, we're used to it yet I tolerate heat better than Mark does.

No plans to spend time in the outdoors this weekend!

Y'all take care!

hot   Wow it sure is HOT out there!!

I'm blessed to have AC at home, but i did have to drive to the PO and the bakery today... I'm surprised the car was not melted in the driveway.
Right now I'm guzzling ice water at home and really hoping the power stays on through the next few days... they say the whole power grid is strained to its max.  I've got no plans to be outside this July4th weekend.

Are you all doing ok?  coool
