Hi Mark ! RE 'pooching out' I do not know how you cut the wire for your staples, but I use pliers and try to ensure that any chisel edge formed on the legs of a staple' finish perpendicular to the edge of the fret board so that they cut thro' the grain, rather that parallel to the edge of the fretboard, where the they more easily would 'part the grain' and thus possibly 'pooch out' the side wall of the fret board ???
