No real indication as to where it was made. There is a known connection to Salt Lake City but that is the only detail we have yet, hopefully more tomorrow.
Any indication this is American made? Otherwise I'd say it was a French Epinette most probably an Epinette des Vosges, one of the European predecessors of the Appalachian Dulcimer.
Nine strings!! First time I looked I only counted eight. Arranged 5 and 4.
Reminds me very much of a French Epinette with its separate bank of bourdons (drones). Even on the near side, the melody would be played on one or two and the other 3 or 4 drone as well.
