I had Ron make this capo for me for my cedar dulcimer since it has a 1/2" tall fingerboard, and one of his regular capos didn't really fit it. This one has been shortened so that it doesn't bottom out on the top of the dulcimer.
My original idea with this one was for it to have a cedar overlay to match this dulcimer, but he suggested the curly koa (for a similar colored wood) since he was afraid the cedar would be too soft (plus he had it on hand). Ebony was going to be my second choice. I’m glad he was willing to do what I requested.
