Thank you, Wayne and Dusty Turtle. @Dusty Turtle: One of the things I like most with the dulcimer is just to start to play songs I like and to find my own arrangements just by trial and error. Interesting that you play with only three strings. I thought about that, but on the other hand I want to play chord and drone style as well. When my new dulcimers arrive, maybe I'll try an equidistant setup.
That sounds wonderful, Goschi! Great job! Did you learn that by ear? from sheet music? from tablature?
Incidentally, I removed the extra melody string shortly after starting to fingerpick. Then I found that I much prefer the cleaner sound you get with just three strings and have removed that extra string from all my dulcimers.
Thank you all for listening and for your comments!
I'll have to find a better setting for my recordings, anyway - I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@Cheryl: Yes, my right hand has quite an easy job... each finger has its own string, and that's it! :) Seriously: as I play my dulcimer as it is (i.e. with doubled melody string) I find it easier to pick the "inner" melody string with my finger than the "outer" one with my thumb. My guitar and ukulele experience is also helpful. But I have already ordered some finger picks (and a thumb pick!), I'm curious how I can cope with them. I think I'll have to try some faster pieces from time to time! :)

Enjoyed this Goshi. You have such economy of motion with your right hand....makes fingerstyle look easy!
Here you are, Gladys!
Wonderfully played, Goschi! This hymn almost has a stately sound to it-- very nice!
Thank you, Wayne and Dusty Turtle.
