I love the tone of this flute. So happy that is wonderful flute maker Gray Fox Flutes creates these beautiful instruments by hand and offers them at prices that have enabled me to enjoy them.
This is a public domain song transcribed by Marsha Harris from the book shown in the video. I attached a mic to the flute for the reverb and attached that to a little mini amp.
Thanks for watching
My flute journey began on April 14, 2016. Today is May 23, 2016
see my soundcloud page for this song and some dulcimer that I added to it!

I usually practice harmonica while driving alone. But I'll give the CD a go.
Yes, try it...and it's probably safer lol!!
Maria
Golly gee, Maria, you were right, I didn't have even one wreck driving home last night.

Maria, I took delivery on John Vames book volume 1, approximately a month ago. I've been way way to busy to really get into the book yet, but after some page flipping, it appears to be the real deal.
I am not surprised that you are loving the NAF.
John's books are GREAT!! I learned so much and the cd that's included is worth the price alone: one because he describes everything you need to do and plays an example. Second: he plays a bunch of songs at the end that are just great to listen to. I listened to this cd for about 3 weeks straight on my way to work and back!!
let me know what you think?!
Maria
You inspire me to get out my Native American Flute. Lovely playing.
Bill
Yes, that's great! I hope you do!!
Maria
Maria, this song sounds really nice on your flute. Nice loved it!
Thanks so much Lexie! thanks very much!

Absolutely beautiful, Maria.
It's kind of interesting the direction of each NAF player , concerning songs.
Pine states: "I don't know a single cover song."
"The only songs I know are cover songs."
While I do practice just playing up and down the sound holes, 90% of my practice are cover songs. Mostly songs I play on dulcimer.
Interesting. Perhaps I need to learn some traditional NAF songs.
Again, nice song Maria.
Terry,
Wow you are so kind to say that!!
I appreciate it and most of the songs I've been playing have come from a wonderful book called "Understanding the Gift" vol 1 and 2. It's written by a man named John Vames (who sadly passed away 6 years ago) It's really the way I learned to play and I'm so grateful that I bought it!!
Take care
Maria
I don't know a single "cover song". This is one of my alltime favorites. Time for me to learn this I guess!
Fine job Maria...I agree, the Grey Fox flute has great tone and you did it justice!
So haunting and beautiful.....
OH that makes me feel so good. Thanks so much. And yes, this is a great song for the NA Flute~!~
thanks again

I think it gives a hauntingly beautiful sound which I believe is inherent in the song itself.
Benjamin thanks so much and yes this song does have such a haunting tone. I think that's why it works so well with the NA flute. Especially a low tone one!
thanks so much for watching

Very beautiful Maria... you have gone flute crazy lol...dont forget the dulcimer in the corner...it will get lonely.
Thanks so much Helen,
But I still LOVE my dulcimers. In fact I did a little recording with it using this song...I improvised over it. CHeck out the audio section of my page here!!
Maria
That was very nice, Maria. You and Monica are going to convert me to playing flute yet - lol!
Thanks so much and yes that would be great!!
