I'm back to playing the dulcimer after having thumb problems which turned out to be arthritis. The docs said although it may hurt me to play it won't make the arthritis worse so I'm playing through the pain. Actually I'm finding it less painful if I use my thumb only when it's absolutely necessary! It's been 10 months since I began to play the dulcimer (November 13, 2013 after severing my left middle finger)
Thanks for watching!

This is just lovely. So simple, peaceful, and skillfully played. Really, really enjoyed listening to this.

oh thanks so very much!! I'm glad you liked it!!
That was lovely Maria....Thank you for sharing. Your dulcimer has a beautiful tone.
thank so much Lynn~ I really appreciate your kind words. Yes, Jim Woods at McSpadden is a fine luthier!! I bought this in honor of my mom and I think of her when I play it. She would have loved to hear the dulcimer but sadly she passed before I even knew it existed!....I wrote her a song on it the first day I got it. It's called "Bittersweet"...I think it's posted on my video page here if you want to check it out..When Jim was making it for me. I asked him to choose the most colorful wide grained Redwood...and walnut..and he didn't disappoint. The sides have a streak like a skunk...and the front looks like waves...He made it exactly as I envisioned it...even better..thanks again

Simply beautiful Maria! As an orthopedic surgeon said to me, "Keep those joints mobile!"...I have found that his advice helped me (injured left hand, arthritis).
Steven
Awe, Thanks so much Steven. That is so nice of you to say. And I like your surgeon's advice. And hope you continue to play "pain free"
Maria
Beautiful tone and well played. Hopefully you will find small adjustments over time that keep the pain at bay as well.
Thanks so very much for your kind words and encouragement. I really appreciate it!

I haven't given up on the dulcimer! (*i have arthritis in my left hand and it made it very difficult to play the dulcimer for many months. I now wear a brace and it's helped immensely.
