I started to teach myself to play the ukulele in November 2011.
I played up until I severed my left middle finger last Oct 2015. I couldn't play guitar or uke for over 5 months and when I could I was busy with my new instruments that I took up. I came across my ukes today while cleaning my house and of course that was all the distraction I needed.
I enjoy playing fun stuff on the uke but I've always been fascinated with playing classical pieces of music too
Here's one of them
Thanks for listening. This uke is special to me as I bought it with the money and gift cards I got for my 50th birthday 3 years ago this month!

Well, this is a real charmer!!! How's your injured finger feeling on this instrument?
Thanks Mary
it dies hurt more than other instruments. I guess cause it scrunches my fingers. So I don't play too often.
Thanks for listening!!

Beautiful song. I love the sound of your ukulele . Nice. Real nice. I am a strummer, not a picker. Wish I were a picker slash strummer.
Hey Terry,
I bet you can do it if you tried. Just go slowly and start by using a basic thumb for one of the strings and pointer, middle and ring and gently pluck the remaining strings...make a little pattern and dont' worry about "playing a song" just play some chords that way and try to change the chords as smoothly as you do when you strum VERY SLOWLY at first and THEN only after you can do it comfortably speed it up...let me know how it works out...
Maria
and Thank you for your kind words! You are a GEM

Delightful and encouraging. I have been unable to play my dulcimer way too long. My strum hand does not cooperate since my brain went wonky. I tried again today. The small amount of progress brought me back after a long absence from fotmd. Seeing your video has given me a new idea -to try plucking the strings. Perhaps I can control that movement better. It will not be as lovely as your music, but it will return the music to me. I wanted you to know today your video served a purpose you may have not planned.
OH thanks so much. I hope you get to enjoy your music again. I've actually found that using the noter on the dulcimer (not always my favorite style of playing) is also a little easier on the fretting hand if playing with those fingers give me problems. (like my thumb joint) or even just playing the notes using my finger on my left hand like my pointer and using my right hand to pick works to (and pick all the strings even the drone notes (the ones you are not fretting) and it still sounds great! If I get a chance after the holidays I will try and do a video demonstrating some techniques....take care, feel better and thanks for watching my video and sharing your thoughts as well!

I love the way you play this by picking, very pretty.
Thanks so much Lexie~
i'm so glad that I can play again...still some pain but I'm working through it...can't give up right?

Nice playing. Usually hear all strings strummed when playing the uke; I like the individual plucking of the strings...brings out a pleasing sound.
awesome!! I'm glad you liked it! I agree that the uke is more versatile then people realize!!
