I just came back from the Pocono Dulcimer Winterfest and with me came a beautiful new dulcimer hand made by George Handy and bought for me by my husband who still knows how to surprise me after almost 30 years of marriage! I hope you like my first song with it. It's an arrangement by David Haas of a public domain song "Dona Nobis Pacem" I captured it using my Zoom H5 but I didn't have the camera rolling so I decided to put together some pictures that I took on a recent relaxing trip with my family in Cape May New Jersey. The only photos not from there are the first 3 or 4 taken on the ride home from the Pocono's and no I wasn't driving!!! Hope you enjoy this video and subscribe if you do. Also George'a wife Sandy made the beautiful quilt is a bag (the dulcimer is resting on it in one of the photos) and and she is just such a lovely person!!
LOVED IT. Heard it this morning EARLY and got right up and played that on my dulcimer. thank you....gonna do it as a round tomorrow when I have some friends over. Now the deep sounding kalumba? that is at the end of the video...(loved those lamas)....do you play that as well and did you make it? aloha, irene
Hey there, Thanks so much for your kind words! The deep sounding Kalimba type instrument you hear is actually a melodic drum called a "RAV VAST" it's made in Perm Russia. I love it so much. It's also known as a "tongue pan" and it has 9 tones that you tap that produce a sound but each of the sounds have many harmonics. I am really blessed because I actually won one in a contest this past summer. I can't post the winning video because it was a cover of Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars and covers are not allowed here. But if you go on Youtube and find my channel you can see it in action!!
Thanks again
Maria

Lovely. I'm doing a program on Music as Prayer for a women's circle next month and playing Dona Nobis Pacem. I'll have to look into Dave's arrangement. After listening to you play, I played my version and played it the best ever. You inspired me. Thanks for posting. Dulcinina
Oh that was so nice of you to say!! I really appreciate it and glad that you felt inspired!!
