I had never heard of this song before my late father told me that he was hearing music. It was the day i took him to the hospital for the last time. My poor dad's C02 level was almost as high as his oxygen. That's the most logical reason for him hearing something that I couldn't. He also started to see my late mom. He said to me " i know she's not there and that she's dead but there she is"....
It was so difficult to watch him those last days of his life. although he had a few hours here and there where he was feeling good and seemed like his old self. I thought a few times he was going to get better. But on April 25, 2019 he joined my mom....I miss them both terribly.
I happened to be scouring the net for music to play on my ukulele and this song popped up. I couldn't believe it. I knew it was fate.
Since it makes me sad I could only play it in a slower tempo to match how I feel. I played it on my Aklot ukulele which I think has such a sweet sound.
I hope you like my interpretation. I used the Eventide Blackhole reverb to add to the mood.
The video is from Spring Lake NJ from this past summer. I love the beach as they did.....
Peace and thank you for watching.

Love the song an elderly gentleman in our group plays it often, Like you I had never heard of it , I was thinking that it may be a www2 song or after the war song don't know how I got that Idea in my head. You did a great job appreciate the info about the Auria pro I'm going to look into it. A friend and I have a challenge going on during the quarantine each day we record a song and sent it to each other. the challenge is that we have to figure out the title. Neither of us have any experience in recording and are stumbling through different was to do it. So sorry to hear about your father.
Thanks so much. And yes that makes sense. My dad was in World War 2 so you are correct with the era. I am glad that the man played it. Did he play it on dulcimer? I have to try that!!
Thank you for your kind words about my dad as well!
Take care

Beautiful song, Maria. I fully understand why you love your Aklot ukulele. $ for $, perhaps the best tenor ukulele on the planet. A little tweaking sometimes, but what a great value. You play it beautifully.
Thanks so much. Yes, they are a super company too. They sent me this as a gift because they liked a few videos that I did for their other products. They even said just play it we don't need you to unbox it or review it. Isn't that nice?
Take care
Maria
That is....just lovely!!! Well done, Maria!
