I certainly did, Patty! It was a pity Angela couldn't come too on that occasion. Mind you, we had spent some time in Virginia on that first visit, when we actually travelled right across the USA (from west to east).
If the pair of us come back again, it will be a very slimline Angela that revisits (not that she looks particularly chunky in this photo!). By careful diet and exercise, and general iron discipline, she's managed to lose 42 lbs.
Wayne, Ken and Carrie: thanks for the positive comments. If we look like we're having a good time, it's because we were - on our first visit to America. The photo was taken back in 2005 when we spent a whole month travelling in the USA. It wasn't anything like long enough of course, but we hope to be back some time. (I've actually been back once since then. I had a very brief visit on my own to Virginia in early 2011, specifically to see the marvellous exhibition of historic dulcimers at Ferrum College.)
Nice photo John. I lived not far from there for a few years. I like the Grand Canyon, but prefer Crater Lake in Oregon. It's just as impressive but more 'intimate'.

Nice photo, John. You've seen a part of the US that I haven't. My eldest daughter lived in Las Vegas for several years and I didn't go to Arizona! Maybe someday. Perhaps you haven't been to Dornoch, Scotland, either... but I have. That's the way it usually goes, isn't it?

Great picture John! I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. I hope you enjoyed your visit to Virginia too
