great idea to make such shelves to do this. another great idea. I've made 7 banjo/lele's and they are so fun to make and play. I need to learn a few more tunes on them though. I've got a VERY BIG GOURD that I'm just thinking about doing a "thumb piano" as it's too big for a banjo bell. ha. aloha, irene
When I was putting my shop together this couple who made wooden toys and goodies was retiring, and we bought all of their shelves. They'd be pretty easy to make, but the price was what we'd pay for the materials. And it'd ave taken a lot longer to build them then to buy them!
I love making instruments too! I've never made a banjo/lele. I love the gourd banjoes, though!
Here is a link to another person who makes the "thumb piano." She calls it a marimba. Her work is fantastic, and I draw a lot of inspiration from her. She guides me when I need it, too. I'm trying to get over to her place to take a lesson in her shop.
I had to look up what a banjo bell is, and I still don't know!
I hope you share pics of your work, as I really believe that we learn so much from one another.
