Sorry for the belated video production - but I actually DO have a bread-and-butter-job apart from my hobbies...
@John Tose: in the video I tried both (with identical conditions) - on a small table and on my lap, so you can compare. Problem on the table is: the "slim" body shape makes playing it on the table a little "wobbly".
Presumably, though, if you play it on top of a table it will work like a `stave dulcimer' - basically a fretboard you play on a tabletop. Using the furniture to amplify it.
