In this video you can see how I built a mountain dulcimer out of a kit from Cedar Creek Dulcimers, Branson MO. The music I play on it is the traditional song "Cripple Creek". ...
Great first build and really nice build-along video, Peter. Be proud of the job you did. There are always little imperfections that we builders see that others never will. That's OK. Perfection is not truly achievable anyway...
Thanks, Patty and Dan for taking the time to watch and comment! :)
It's a lot of fun to play it - and it is a good feeling to play an instrument you have built yourself. Thanks to the Cedar Creek people for offering a kit like that.
If I'd have had to it just by myself without any power tools, I guess I had not been able to make the modifiction I fancied come true. And I guess, I'd have had to spend a lot more hours on cutting and sanding. So if you're not in a hurry - go for a kit like that!
If I'd live in the US, I'd go for their Dulci-lin kit now...
But shipping costs to Germany and the German taxes and custom fees made my kit cost about twice at much than the kit alone.
But I ordered a second fretboard with my kit - and I've got ideas for a box dulcimer, so let's see... :)
Peter, it's beautiful. This is an inspiring video too. I may try this myself some day. It's nice to know that the kit can be modified to personal preferences. Your dulcimer indeed has a great sound. I'm looking forward to seeing some more videos with you playing it . Thank you! It's been a real treat to see this come together
Nice one Peter, like that song too.
Thank you for sharing the process I am facinated with how dulcimers are put together.
Thanks, Carrie, John, Ken and Kevin!
@John Keane: You noticed the yellow hat this time, didn't you?
Peter, very nicely done, on thr dulcimer, and the video. Great job!!!
