144 days since I began my quest to learn the mountain dulcimer
This is part of my video progress journal
This is a traditional Irish slow Air arranged by Meridith Rhindress for the Dulcimer Association of Albany of which I'm now a proud member!
This is a basic version and I aspire to learn the more complicated one that Linda Brockington arranged for the same group.
Think you for watching
I plugged the dulcimer into my Roland JD-Xi synth and utilized the onboard fx.

I was going to ask about your dulcimer, it has such a beautiful sound. Your playing, the song, everything was beautiful.
Oh thanks so much Marg
It's a McSpadden Standard (it has the long VSL but I was a little green when I ordered it however it does have a lovely sound that I've come to realize is worth the "extra stretching of my small hands!!" (I actually play guitar so I think that helped with the stretch quite a bit!) and thanks I plugged it into the back of the synth and when I play it I can use the delay and reverb on the dulcimer.
Jim Woods was so accommodating to me as I told him how special it was to me and wanted it to reflect my mom's colorful personality. I asked for the largest grain rosewood and he really delivered and even the walnut has this cool light streak on the sides!!
Again, Thanks so much
Maria

Maria, I really enjoyed your song. Beautiful. Of course, that applies to all of your songs.
Your progress with the dulcimer is simply amazing.
Thanks so much Terry

One of my favourites ! Thanks for sharing (and presenting such a good view of the fretboard)
JohnH
Thanks so much John,
I aporeciate your kind words and yes I've learned a lot from videos that have this angle! But alas you will see that in the second go round i "lost my place" so I improvised!! ;)
take care

Very nice! I'm enjoying your progress. Kind of a long drive from Suffern to Albany as I recall.
Thanks I'm glad you liked it! And yes it's about a 2 hour drive. I went to the festival and then joined the club. I can't make the monthly meetings but I now get the monthly newsletter which has two pieces of music tabbed out.
take care

I played and recorded this the same day that I did my original synth improvisation so I kept the dulcimer plugged into my synth utilizing the onboard fx (reverb and delay)
Thanks so much for watching.
