I have missed playing mountain dulcimer. I hurt myself on January 29th. I was misdiagnosed by the first doctor. I eventually needed an MRI which revealed a ruptured ligament in my left hand. I had surgery on April 3, 2018 and the surgeon had to drill into my bone and put an anchor to reattach the badly damaged ligament. After being in a cast for 5 weeks I started PT/OT which I'm presently still doing. It's been a long haul but I'm happy to be playing again. Thanks for listening and watching~
I also severed a finger from my picking hand before I started playing dulcimer. I had a bone taken from my wrist and it was grafted into the first section of the middle finger (closest to the palm) as that bone was gone.
It took a lot of effort to be able to play guitar again but it paid off. I now do at least 70-75% of my music on guitar and dulcimer as finger picking.
Keep up the good work!
Oh boy that sounds painful as well. Glad you are on the mend and still able to play.
Thanks for sharing your story. It helps to know we are not alone!
God bless
Maria
Beautiful song, SleepingAngel. I hope you heal quickly.
You are not alone. Hand and finger pain is one reason I love harmonica.
I'll tell you like Lisa told me a couple of years ago. "Go slow, take it easy. Little bit at a time."
oh Terry, so nice to hear from you!~
I hope you can still play despite that darn arthritis. I have it in my left thumb joint but I wear a brace for that and it helps so much!!
Take care and thanks so much for watching my vid~ and yes that advice is very good. That's why it's taken me so long to play again. I've been very cautious since my surgery~
Best regards
Maria
Maria, so great that you are playing again - and so beautifully!
Thank you so much!! so glad you liked it!

I teared up watching your hand play............so meaningful and soulful, your music. I pray that the vibrations of your mountain dulcimer will help heal you quickly and that you'll create many more songs for us to hear....and see. There is much healing in music....read about it. aloha, irene
That is so nice of you to tell me. I’m so happy that you enjoyed my playing. I feel blessed that God helped me find the right doc who could do surgery and help me heal. It was a long time without playing and I missed it so very much!
again thanks for watching and your kind words
