I'm newly obsessed with this song (Lord Gregory) and plan to do it soon...interesting tuning you use...I've been using DAD but still get a drone sound a bit...I'll have to try your tuning as well.  In any case it's a nice tune to showcase a drone-y sound. Of late I've been listening to a version by Danu.

Annie - the tuning is A bagpipe, (A'AA)

Start from DAA and drop the bass string down to an octave below the other two. (may be a bit slack, depending on your strings).

I use this a lot for mixalydian tunes.
