Thanks so much Karen. I really appreciate your kind comments. :) This tune also has lyrics, and I meant to add them below in my last comment, but somehow forgot. These are the words to the tune:
Hey Brian, your number 1 fan here! That was just beautiful! You really play the dulcimer so sweetly, hence it's name. You are a great musician and I enjoyed that arrangement a lot! Great job!!!
Thanks for your comments everyone. I'm glad you enjoyed the tune. Dave - I've seen many different versions of this tune, and they are all a bit different. If I remember correctly, Skinner's own notation had only the melody and a bass line, but no chords. I might be wrong about that though. Interestingly, since Skinner died in 1927, it is possible to actually hear him play. This is from a cylinder recording in 1910. The first tune is the Cradle Song:
Finally, Skinner's 1904 collection The Harp and Claymore (his largest collection of songs, airs and dances) is available free online from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. You can check it out here:
Garry and Cindi - thanks for listening and for taking the time to comment. I appreciate both. :)

Geek, John H. - thanks for having a listen! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

Sleep, my own fair darling,
I will cling to thee;
Sure my cup of sorrow
Cannot fuller be.
Oh! My life is lonely;
Oft my thoughts are wild,
Ah! My heart were broken,
Did I lose my child.
But I'll trust God's mercy,
And through widow's tears,
Watch my precious darling
Climb to manhood's years.
Then I'll trace my lost one,
Mirrored in these eyes,
Till I join his presence
Up beyond the skies.
