A melody from the O'Carolan [Irish harper]section in the back of Capt. Francis O'Neill's "Dance music of Ireland" book.It would initially be in G minor on the fiddle.
Upon reflection it's the Nashville trick in reverse. On the guitar you'd be playing the bass strings with the pick, slightly muted with the heel of your hand. The dulcimer's upside down for a guitar player but it seems to work (to bring out the melody string while playing the lower notes with your fingers).
Thanks Robin.Perhaps I should mention:I wanted to play this fingerstyle but found the bass notes and harmonies too loud,so I used the old Nashville trick-flatpick between index and thumb for the melody notes, fingers for harmonies and bass.
Listening again-- so good! The harmonies are just right, Jamie.

Great harmonies!

Wonderfully evocative of a long-ago era, Jamie. So good!
