Description:

I was intrigued in my youth by elderly fiddlers'stories about playing dances accompanied by a pump organ.The first instrument I ever tried was an old pump organ in my grandparents' place.I've never heard that sound with a fiddle so I tried to recreate it here...nice try but no cigar,laugh.but you'll get the idea.I'd love to hear that sound[those pump organs were really special as a product of skilled industry and affordability].By the way,I do think Niel Gow was expressing the morning aftermath following an excess of conviviality.

Upon subsequent listening,the button box is okay but it doesn't really replicate the sound of those old pump organs.It would be interesting to hear the real thing,especially if the keyboard player was from Cape Breton,doubling the melody on the right hand.
