Redwood Dulcimer Day 2021 (ONLINE!)

Redwood Dulcimer Day 2021 (ONLINE!)

Friday August 20 2021, 6:00 PM
@ Online
Attendees:  @Dusty Turtle@Steve Eulberg@Regina_Garson

The 21st Annual Redwood Dulcimer Day will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2020 and will be ONLINE this year!  This year's guest instructors will be Lois Hornbostel and Ehukai Teves, who will be joined by resident instructors Neal Hellman , Jessica Comeau , Peter Tommerup, Steve Eulberg , Kevin Roth , Janet Herman , Ron Beardslee, Laura Devine and Dusty Thorburn .

Lois and Ehukai will offer a concert the evening of Friday, August 20, and workshops on the 21st will cover both mountain and hammered dulcimers for all skill levels.  More details forthcoming . . .

Santa Cruz was the center of a dulcimer renaissance in the 1970s, and now you can become part of that tradition, all from the comfort of your living room (or parlor, or porch, or . . . ).

I am definitely excited, @Dusty-turtle. I got an email with details of the various yesterday. You are right about the virtual musical opportunities that have emerged in the pandemic. I've worked from home for years, and being real, I had gotten into a rut with so much of my life being home based. Music had moved further and further to the seats in the back of that life. That has surely changed now, and I am loving it. Redwood Dulcimer Day will be a lot of fun.

I'm so glad you'll be joining us, @Regina-Garson!  If there is any joy to be found in this horrid pandemic, it's that the move to online festivals means we get to share music with people from all over. Make sure you attend not only for the workshops, but also the lunchtime concert, the "stretching with Stephanie" to get us off our backsides, and the afternoon (or probably early evening for you) jam.

I'm signed up for this one. Being from the Deep South, it will be exciting to participate in a dulcimer day with folks from the other side of the country.

Me too, Steve. I'm getting more excited each day.  It will be fun to share music not only with folks in Northern California, but attendees from all over who can join us for this virtual festival.

Just yesterday I had a meeting with the instructors for this year's RDD and everyone is really excited. We've got a great mix of workshops as well as other types of community gatherings throughout the day.  Registration is open, so come and join this intimate festival!
