Popular German folk song, also known by the first line "Hab' oft im Kreise der Lieben". Lyrics by Adalbert von Chamisso (1829), music by Friedrich Silcher (1839).
Peter, wonderful!!! I'm beginning to be a fan of German folk songs . I don't speak or understand German but it sounds very pretty. Thank you for sharing
I've got a week of holiday - and as during the last weeks, it is still rainy and tooooo cold for the season in Germany! A reason to lament and complain? No! But a great opportunity to write down some tabs and record a few songs!
So here is famous German folk song, especially famous among male choirs. The title can be translated as "Come on, let's sing!" In Germany, it is also known by the first line "Hab' oft im Kreise der Lieben [im duftigen Grase geruht und mir ein Liedchen gesungen, und alles war wieder gut!" (that's about: "How often have I rested together with my loved ones, and when I started to sing, everything was fine again"). Lyrics by Adalbert von Chamisso (1829), music by Friedrich Silcher (1839). It's about the consoling and soothing effect music and singing has on us. It encourages us, not to lament and complain, but to sing with others instead and go ahead and look at the good aspects of life.
I'll also upload the tabs (finger picking instrumental) for it in the tabs section of the forum in a few minutes.
The lyrics (written by Chamisso in 1829) are:
Thank you all for taking the time to listen and comment!
Excellent
