Irish song by James Yorkston about 1883. Also known as "Cockles and Mussels". I just played and sang it as I learned to know it from others, so there maybe s...
@Mike, sorry about the hat. But since I have spent a holiday week in the Alps, I love that Tyrolian style hat. I only wear the yellow hat on Sundays now...
@John Henry: You've got so many videos here - in which videos can I hear you sing?
Sorry Peter, I must delete some of them soon ! If you still want to brave my singing, then look for "Trials, Troubles, Tribulations", or perhaps "The Farewell Shanty" Be it on your shoulders...............lol
Thank you for listening and for your feedback, folkfan, Mary, John Henry and Wout!

@Mary: Yes, one has to concentrate on even more aspects - and there are even more opportunities to spoil the recording by singing and / or playing wrong!
On the other hand - I like to sing to some songs I play on the dulcimer. At our last meeting we also played together easy beginner songs like "Boil dem cabbage down". That's a lot of fun, when someone sings the funny verses as well!
@Wout: Yes, "In Dublin's Fair City" is another name for that song. There's more information about the history of this song here:
I enjoyed that Peter, its another of those songs that used to be part of the very limited repertoire we used to sing in 'music lessons ' at school in the '40s! And as one who has attempted to sing on this site , I found nothing wrong with the way you sang it
Saturday morning, rainy weather... Just the right time for a dulcimer recording!
You can find my tabs here , but I don't know whether all details of the melody are correct. Just wrote it down as I learned to know it from some friends who sang it.
Enjoy! But watch out - I also tried to sing the song in this recording!
Thank you, Marc and pristine2! Glad you like it!
That was great .. thanks for posting it.
Thank you as well, Bobby, Dusty and Mike!

In most song books this is known as 'In Dublin Fair City'. The different names prove the song past from player to player by copying the singing.
You did a great job. Nicely played and nicely sung.
