Farewell, Fair One, by Gary Gallier (used with expressed permission)

musician/member name:
Duration: 00:02:24
description:
My first run-through of a beautiful tune I learned from Gary Gallier. This tune is copyrighted, but is used here with written permission from Gary (and cleared for this site by Strumelia). The tune will be on his upcoming CD Three Wire Choir, which I would highly recommend.

Hi Dusty; just wanted to mention that I did speak to Gary and mentioned that he could post an announcement here. Thanks! :)

I just want to pass on that Gary Gallier has posted over at Everything Dulcimer that his new CD is available: http://www.everythingdulcimer.com/discuss/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=29349

Brian, since you know him, perhaps you could suggest that he post an announcement here in the For Sale forum.

Nice,

I enjoyed seeing Gary's song played on your McSpadden. I hope to learn it as well. I missed seeing you last week at the Pocono Winter Festival. I heard Gary play this song at his class and at the concert. Thanks for sharing your excellent tribute to his song.

Really nice work, Brian. Gary's arrangements are rarely simple, but you seem to play so effortlessly. One lick in particular, which you play around 1:29 and again around 1:39 seems really challenging, but you pull it all off so well. Very nice playing. I am not surprised Gary was willing to allow you to spread his music.

I am eager to buy Gary's CD. Perhaps you could post a little note on this thread when it's available. I just looked at the Gallier brothers website and couldn't find anything about it. You might even encourage him to put alisting in the For Sale forum with information about how to buy it. I bet it would get some interest, and he's so good about making tab available for free that he is exactly the kind of musician who deserves to make use of the free forum.

Hi all. Thank you for your kind comments. It was nice of Gary to give me permission to put a video of this tune on the internet, so if you like it, please support him and buy his latest CD once it's available. :)
